Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player secured his initial title for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a difficult period, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in specific - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents his first trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface since spring of 2023.

Success also means he has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one various events.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to get a title is really nice," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, including in that event previously this season.

The player's retrieving strategy and regular reactions on the playing surface had caused some to doubt if his ability to play at the top level was finished.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging opponent, securing four of the final five games to go ahead.

The pair traded service breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his maiden tour victory, seized the initiative to create a final set.

The opponent defended four initial chances in a tight final set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, he clinched the title with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman failing to control a shot after a lengthy match.
