'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith continues clash with City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he reminisces about the nail-biting dying seconds of his team's epic comeback win against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. That match wrapped up with Galbraith picking up a spectator's eyewear amid the pitch-side pile-on.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith struck the post with a long-range strike from distance, and his teammate quickly converted the rebound before sprinting toward the East Stand to celebrate, with the crowd congregating around the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The result sealed an unbelievable recovery given the Welsh side had been behind 2-0 deep into the final 45 minutes. In the euphoria, there was some minor mishaps. Galbraith explained, "There was a supporter trying to get our attention and we were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're humans, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

That win booked a fourth-round match at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith came close against at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in remarkable manner, with Jamie Donley's first-time shot from about way out going in via the crossbar and the opposition keeper. Many argued that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've awarded it to him for attempting the shot from that range," commented Galbraith, who played in the middle before switching to right flank after the team changed shape. That meant facing off against City's winger, with whom he swapped shirts, and the player was among the Manchester squad who paid tribute to the way the underdogs attacked the game.

City's Quality

"Athletically they are exceptional but even the simple things and routine actions, they can just perform consistently," he explains. "It appears that they always find their target and they understand how to manage and neutralize a game. You can think you're doing well and then abruptly they will just deliver a through ball past your midfield without you even seeing. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It demands a tough attitude and concentration just to remain competitive."

Swansea Move

Swansea pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to sign him in the summer in a significant move. He established himself as a fans' favourite across multiple campaigns at Leyton Orient and has quickly replicated that in Wales. At his previous team he reunited with his former manager, who four years ago gave Galbraith his first extended run in professional games on loan at his loan club from Old Trafford. Then came a spell at fourth-tier the Manchester club, before he moved on from his boyhood club.

Growth Journey

"I was likely a slightly green going into senior level. I think numerous professionals would say under-23s football is completely distinct. Sometimes it seems play is circulated without real physicality. There's not many hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adapt rapidly."

International Recognition

His progress reflects that growth for club and country, shining for the Green and White Army, who could still reach the global tournament next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has started the recent fixtures, including both legs encounters against a football powerhouse. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's previous international manager, gave him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he controls possession and his eye for a decisive through ball.

Starting Out

This marks a remarkable path for the player from the Queens Park estate in the Belfast suburb, just outside the capital, who used to see his parent, the elder Galbraith, also a midfielder, play for a local club.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's single match for Manchester United came in the away trip in 2019, a continental tournament trip to Astana, where they played on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was shut owing to conditions of -15C. "This represented a extended travel and it was chilly," he comments, grinning. "The week before, myself and quite a few of the young lads trained together, so that assisted our preparation. Just to accompany the senior squad and get a couple of minutes at the end was unbelievable."

Departing Old Trafford

What was the challenge was it to leave United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged 16? "The decision proved relatively straightforward, because I reached the point where I knew I wasn't going to make it at the top level. I'm hugely grateful for the experience gained but it got to the point where I felt I required a fresh start, drop down the leagues and play men's football. Now I'm gradually progressing again."

Life in Swansea

It is the early part of the afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has a commitment at 5pm: a learner's exam, another progress toward getting on the road. Prior to relocating to the local area, the 24-year-old was a regular in Swansea's nicknamed player transport, a small coach driven by team personnel, Pete and Howard, which shuttles players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with the Portuguese player, the Brazilian, an Ivorian player – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has got his license. It's pleasant to interact with the guys but I'm hoping to be the next one to drive independently and on the road. Franco likes to pull a few pranks; he's frequently playing tricks."

Fan Interactions

When he represented Orient, Galbraith would mix with followers on public transport after beginning his trip at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
